As the City Government of Mati continues to improve Matinians’ living conditions, Mayor Carlo Luis P. Rabat is also mindful of the conditions of the demised and departed.
Completed last April 21, 2016, Mayor Carlo spearheaded the establishment of the City of Mati Eternal Garden through the City Planning and Development Office headed by Engineer Ariel Mosquera.
The City of Mati Eternal Garden or CMEG is a modern and affordable memorial park located at Sitio Lumogaob, Barangay Matiao that can accommodate up to 5,640 coffins and bone crypts.
This ₱ 49,300,000.00 memorial park was established due to the evident congestion and current encroachments happening in the old cemetery.
According to CPDO, CMEG rose on a 3-hectare lot acquired from Mrs. Conchita Lim Ong through a Land Purchase Agreement issued last February 28, 2013 and was fully paid by the City Government of Mati as its counterpart on March 19, 2014 after a thorough feasibility study, investigation and deliberation by joint efforts of technical people from LGU-Mati and the Department of Finance-Municipal Development Fund Office.
The name City of Mati Eternal Garden was approved through the enactment of the City Ordinance No. 242 series of 2017 also known as the CMEG Ordinance.
CMEG was officially launched last October 30, 2017 while its Operation and Maintenance is temporarily designated to CPDO through an Office Order dated January 16, 2018 from the Local Chief Executive, waiting for the creation of the City Economic Enterprise Management and Development Office for the turn-over of the Administrative and Supervisory Functions.
As of this writing, 25 burials and bone transfers were made that includes bodies coming from outside the city after its opening to the public.
According to CPDO, coffin crypts leasing price is ₱ 6,000.00 for 6 years plus interment fee of ₱ 5,000.00. Coffin crypt lease can be renewed to additional 6 years for ₱ 5,000.00 only. Bone crypts good for 2 heads are available also for ₱12,000.00. CMEG also caters transfers of coffin from other cemeteries for ₱ 3,500.00.
Mayor Carlo announced the first-come-first-served basis, requirements and the five-easy steps in availing slots in CMEG.
